Sulfolane

Introduction

Sulfolane is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid with a melting point of 27.8°C. It exhibits high polarity, high thermal stability, low toxicity, and strong solubility. It is widely used in natural gas purification, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical synthesis, and electronic chemicals. It is miscible with water in all proportions and readily soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols. At room temperature, it is unreactive with acids, bases, olefins, sulfhydryls, and alcohols. Above 230°C, it begins to slowly decompose into dioxide.

Application:

01. Aromatic Hydrocarbon Extraction
Cyclopentane can be used to extract aromatic hydrocarbons from petroleum reforming fractions.
04. Pharmaceuticals and Pesticides
Used as a reaction medium or extraction agent in the synthesis of antibiotic and pesticide intermediates.
02. Natural Gas Desulfurization
Used as a purifier for natural gas and acid gases, removing H2S, CO2, and other acidic gases.
05. Electronic Chemicals
Used in lithium battery electrolytes or semiconductor cleaning agents.
03. Polymer Solvent
Dissolves high-performance materials such as polyamide and polysulfone for fiber spinning or film preparation.
06. Other Applications
Lubricant additive, dye carrier, etc.

Storage & Package

Storage Conditions: storage in a cool, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.
Recommended storage temperature: 10-30°C (above the melting point) to prevent crystallization (melting point of anhydrous cyclopentane is 27.8°C).
Keep away from sources of ignition, oxidizing agents, and strong acids and alkalis.
Packaging:
Packaged in galvanized drums, net weight 250kg per drum. Alternatively, transport the product in an insulated or heated vehicle.
