Introduction – What is Titanium dioxide?

Titanium dioxide, also known as titanium(IV) oxide, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula TiO2. When used as a pigment, it is called titanium white, Pigment White 6 (PW6), or CI 77891.

Titanium Dioxide by Process

There are two main processes, the Sulfate Process, and the Chloride Process， Both sulfate and chloride processes produce it in the rutile crystal form, but the Sulfate Process can be adjusted to produce the anatase form. Anatase, being softer, is used in fiber and paper applications. The Sulfate Process is run as a batch process; the Chloride Process is run as a continuous process.

Titanium dioxide by types

  1. Tio2 has two forms: rutile and anatase.

  2. Rutile is deep red while anatase is yellow to blue.

  3. Rutile has a higher absorbance property than anatase.

  4. Rutile and anatase are both used in as white pigments for paints, paper, and plastics.

  5. Rutile has better heat resistance and light resistance than anatase types.

Tio2 safety

Good industrial hygiene practices should be used, generation of dust should be avoided. Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet for more information about how this product should be handled.

 

Tio2 Storage

This product should not be stored outside or exposed to temperature extremes or to moisture. To ensure optimum performance, it is recommended that the product is used on a first-in, first-out basis from receipt of shipment.

Tio2 pigments are available in 25kg bags and a range of flexible intermediate bulk containers.
